The Saïd Business School, Oxford


The Saïd Business School is an academic department and the business school of the University of Oxford. Here ESH were contracted to design, supply and install a frost protection trace heating system to the water services external pipework. Over 650 metres of type FBT self regulating heating cable was installed to complete the system.

The LMB is a purpose built building for the Medical Research Council, providing first class facilities to some of the world's leading scientists. Lister Hospital - Stevenage

ESH were contracted to design and supply materials and labour to install multiple ramp trace heating systems, utilising self regulating heating tape to prevent snow settlement and ice formation on the hospitals multi storey car park.

To achieve this a loading of 180 watts per m² was required, by using heating tape rated at 30 w/m set to 150-200mm spacing, this gave us an installed length of 6m of heating tape per m² of ramp floor area. 

In total over 1500 metres of type FBT self regulating heating tape was installed throughout this project.

This project for Hampshire Council involved designing, supplying materials, and labour to install a trace heating system to frost protect multiple vessels across five depot sites.

When the shopping channel QVC moved to their new head offices in Chiswick, all pipework on the roof area required protecting against frost. ESH designed, supplied and installed the freeze protection trace heating system which required over 830 metres of self regulating heating tape in total.

Kingsway Tunnel, Liverpool


The Kingsway Tunnel (or Wallasey Tunnel) is a 1.5 mile tunnel under the River Mersey. Here ESH were contracted to design, supply and install a frost protection trace heating system to the water pipework in the hydrant stations underneath the main road in the tunnel. 

This large scale project required over 2.2km of constant wattage heating cable in total.

Finally a project which would allow our installation engineers to throw some shapes whilst working. For this large project, ESH were contracted to design, supply and install a trace heating system to frost protect pipework up to 150mm NB. 

The pipework in question comprised of the sprinkler and boosted cold water pipes in the tank room and car park areas.

In total ESH installed just under 2000 metres of type VC constant wattage trace heating cable.

This project involved supplying and installing a trace heating system to frost protect pipework inside three plant room modules. Each module had approximately 23m of cooper cold water pipe, 8m of stainlees steel cold water pipe, 4m of DHWS copper pipe and 42m of heating pipe.

Here ESH designed, supplied and installed a frost protection trace heating system for the 54mm process cooling water and 28mm DI circuit pipework.
